Phebe Anderson Eaton

Phebe Eaton nee Anderson was the eldest nine children. She married Willam Pomeroy Eaton II in 1935. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary with relatives and friends in Stockton, CA. She died in 1986. Phebe's parents were educators and she followed in their footsteps. She married Bill after she graduated McKinley College in Illinois. Bill had to finish college so Phebe worked as a teacher. Phebe and Bill had to keep their marriage secret for one year. Married women were not allowed to work during the Depression. Phebe and Bill had six children, two died as infants and six grandchildren. Bill lived six years longer than is beloved wife. Bill taught until he volunteered for the Air Force in 1941. He retired as a Lt. Colonel 29 years later. Phebe was one of the first US military wives to arrive in Germany after the war ended. She brought her children and gave birth to their youngest daughter there in 1948. Phebe continued her education and became a school counselor with the FFSUSD, where she remained until her retirement. After Phebe retired, she began to compile the family histories she had researched. Her research was from correspondence, archives, family members and family bibles. Phebe completed this impressive genealogy in 1985, one year before her death.
