Gerhard Lüdtke
Gerhard Martin August Lüdtke (22. October 1875, Greifenberg in Pomerania - 6 March 1944, Berlin) was a german lexicographer and publisher. From 1896-1899 Lüdtke studied German philology at the universities of Berlin and Greifswald. Then he worked as a teacher at Noorthey Institute in the Netherlands. From July 1901 on Lüdtke worked as an assistant at the team of the "***Deutsches Wörterbuch der Gebrüder Grimm***". After receiving his doctorate in 1902 from Heidelberg University he worked as a director ("prokurist") at Karl J. Trübner Press in Straßburg (now Strasbourg). When Alsace-Lorraine felt to France after the First World War, he went to Berlin with his staff, where he worked for Walter de Gruyter Press and initiated the works of "***Reallexikon der Germanischen Altertumskunde***" and "***Reallexikon der Vorgeschichte***". After 1928 he took over Kurt Saucke & Co. Press in Hamburg. He died in Berlin in March 1944.
