Michael Stewart Read Kinnear

Michael Stewart Read Kinnear taught in the University of Manitoba's History department for almost 50 years. Dr. Kinnear graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a B.A. in history in 1960. He completed an M.A. in history at the University of Oregon in 1961 and a Ph.D. in Politics at Oxford University in 1965. Dr. Kinnear became a professor of history at the University of Manitoba in 1965 and retired in 2014. He is an author of numerous publications on British, Canadian, and American elections, including the books *The British Voter: An Atlas and Survey since 1885* (1981), *The Fall of Lloyd George: The Political Crisis of 1922* (1974), *A History of the Vote in Canada* (1997, co-authored with Pierre Dufour), and about 80 articles on Canadian Elections. Dr. Kinnear is currently working on a long-term study of U.S. Presidential Elections since 1856 and on roll-call votes in the U.S. Congress on trade related issues between 1914 and 2000.
