C. Howard Nichols

<b>C. Howard Nichols</b> (b. 1935) is a Louisiana local historian and professor emeritus of history at Southeastern Louisiana College. He has authored numerous historical articles and books, including <i>Tangipahoa Crossings</i> and <i>Gathered At The River</i>. Born in St. Louis, Nichols began his collegiate studies at <a href="http://shimer.edu">Shimer College in Illinois</a>, where he enrolled through that school's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_entrance_at_Shimer_College">early entrance program</a>. He holds degrees from Shimer, Southeastern Louisiana College, and Louisiana State University, and has received numerous awrds and recognition for his teaching.
