Six years ago, Maggie was torn from her twin sister and sent to Canada as a Bernardo Home child. Orphaned, and completely alone she finds herself living with the Howards, a falling-apart family living on a falling-apart-farm. She is responsible for all of the housework, a lot of farm work and the care of the Oward's four-year-old daughter.
