Beauty and the beast and Jack and the beanstalk

A retelling, accompanied by a brief history, of the two well-known tales in the first of which a young girl's great capacity to love overcomes the spell that turned a prince into a beast and, in the second, a young boy climbs a beanstalk where he outwits an ogre and makes his fortune.
