Dolley Madison

A biography of Dolley Madison, considered to be the first First Lady of the United States. Even before her husband James Madison took office, Dolley served as White House hostess for the widowed Thomas Jefferson, and was known for her personality and style. She helped convince the nation to rebuilt its capitol in Washington after the War of 1812, and defined the role of First Lady for those who followed.
