Vicky had only herself to blame. Agreeing so hastily to the proposal by Conrad de Jungh for a marriage of convenience was, in retrospect, foolish. Yet, what else could she have done? Only when they reached her new home on the remote South African veldt did Vicky fully realize the extent of her attraction to this tall, dominating stranger. Now he was her husband.
