Masterpieces from Dresden

In 1697, Augustus II of Poland (later Frederick-Augustus I of Saxony) enlarged a collection of masterpieces established by his predecessors and so inaugurated a brilliant era in the history of Dresden. This book accompanies a selection of 50 paintings on exhibition at the Royal Academy, London.
