Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a 2000 American Christmas comedy film directed by Ron Howard and written by Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman, loosely based on the 1957 children's book by Dr. Seuss. It was the first Seuss book to be adapted into a live-action feature film, and the second adaptation of the book following the 1966 animated TV special. Narrated by Anthony Hopkins, the film stars Jim Carrey as the Grinch, a misanthropic green creature living on Mount Crumpit, who despises Christmas and the joyful residents of Whoville and sets out to sabotage their holiday celebration. The supporting cast includes Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin, Taylor Momsen and Molly Shannon.

The Holiday is a 2006 American romantic comedy film written and directed by Nancy Meyers. Co-produced by Meyers and Bruce A. Block, the film was shot in both California and England. It stars Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet as Amanda and Iris, two lovelorn women from opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean, who arrange a home exchange to escape heartbreak during the Christmas and holiday season. Jude Law and Jack Black play the film's leading men Graham and Miles, with Eli Wallach, Edward Burns, and Rufus Sewell playing supporting roles.

Elf is a 2003 American Christmas comedy film directed by Jon Favreau and written by David Berenbaum. It stars Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf, a human raised by Santa's elves, who learns about his origins and heads to New York City to meet his biological father. James Caan, Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, Ed Asner and Bob Newhart appear in supporting roles.

Nativity! is a 2009 British Christmas musical comedy film directed by Debbie Isitt and released on 27 November 2009 and the first instalment in the Nativity film series. The film stars Martin Freeman and Ashley Jensen. In the film, teacher Paul Maddens (Freeman) lies to his rival that Hollywood are coming to watch his school's Christmas nativity, but after the lie gets out of hand, he must resolve the issue and save his school fast. The film was written by its director, Debbie Isitt, but was also partially improvised.
