Pusheen is a cartoon cat who is the subject of comic strips, plush toys, vinyl figures, sticker sets, and more, on Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, iMessage, YouTube, and other social media platforms. Pusheen was created in 2010 by Claire Belton and Andrew Duff for a comic strip on their website, Everyday Cute. WUMO, formerly Wulffmorgenthaler, is a webcomic and newspaper comic strip created by Danish writer/artist duo Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler. The name of the strip is a portmanteau created from the pair's surnames. The name was also given to a comedy TV series, broadcast on the Danish channel DR2 in 2005. The strip changed its name to WUMO in June 2012.

An animated series adaptation by Japanese screenwriter Reiko Torii and Chinese director Li Haoling was released in China online from June 21 to November 1, 2016, and aired in Japan between January 7, 2017 and March 11, 2017 on Tokyo MX. The series was animated by the South Korean branch of Haoliners. It was streamed by Crunchyroll outside of Asia.
