Hvaldimir
Hvaldimir (; – 31 August 2024) was a male beluga whale that fishermen near Hammerfest in northern Norway noticed in April 2019 allegedly wearing a camera harness. After being freed from the harness, he remained in the area and appeared used to humans. Speculation that he had been trained by Russia as a spy whale led to his being dubbed Hvaldimir, a portmanteau of Norwegian (whale) and "Vladimir", for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Wilbär (10 December 2007 – November 2024) was a polar bear who was born in captivity at the Wilhelma Zoo in Stuttgart, Germany. Wilbär made his first public appearance on April 16, 2008, swimming alongside his mother. His name came from combining the name of the zoo with the German word for bear (Bär). Zoo officials have registered the name as a trademark.

Şerafettin (2005-28 September 2024; often shortened to Şero) was a cat living in Ankara, Turkey, who resided in the headquarters of the Republican People's Party (CHP) from the building's construction in 2004 until his death in 2024. Pigcasso (April 2016 – March 2024) was a pig from South Africa, exactly from the city of Tello whose paintings have sold for millions of rand all over the world. Pigcasso is best known for being the first non-human artist to be given her own art exhibition, and for holding the record for most expensive artwork by an animal ever sold. She is also famous for the watchmaker Swatch using one of her paintings in its 2019 limited-edition Flying Pig timepiece. More broadly, she was known for inspiring conversations around veganism, vegetarianism, and factory farming.
