Agrinio
Agrinio (Greek: Αγρίνιο, ) is the largest city and municipality of the Aetolia-Acarnania regional unit of Greece, as well as the second largest city in Western Greece after Patras. It is the economic center of Aetolia-Acarnania, although its capital is the town of Mesolonghi. The settlement dates back to ancient times. Ancient Agrinion was northeast of the present city; some walls and foundations of which have been excavated. In medieval times and until 1836, the city was known as Vrachori (Βραχώρι). Ozeros
Lake Ozeros () is a lake located west of the Greek city of Agrinio. The lake has its own catchment area but is sometimes connected to the waters of the Acheloos river, flowing from the northwest, when the river overflows. The lake has a surface of ca. 10 km2 and an average depth of 8–10 m, but this varies greatly with the season. The road GR-5/E55 (Antirrio - Agrinio - Ioannina) runs to the northeastern side.

Paravola (Greek: Παραβόλα) is a village and a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Agrinio, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 135.373 km2. Population 3,105 (2021).
Gavalou
Gavalou () is a town and a community in the municipal unit of Makryneia, Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. The community includes the small village Kourtelaiika. The town is located south of Lake Trichonida, the largest natural lake of Greece. It is 7 km east of Papadates, 10 km northwest of Kato Makrinou and 15 km southeast of Agrinio.

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Agrinio, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 99.717 km2. It consists of the villages of Ano Kerasovo, Kato Kerasovo, Zevgaraki, Papadates (seat of the former municipality), Mataranga and Grammatikou.

The seat of the municipality was in Agios Vlasios.

Thestiis Municipal Unit
Thestieis (Greek: Θεστιείς) is a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Agrinio, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 75.058 km2. The seat of the Thestieis municipal unit is Kainourgio. It is situated at the northwestern shore of Lake Trichonida.

Makryneia () is a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Agrinio, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 149.687 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Gavalou. The municipal unit is located south and southeast of Lake Trichonida, and northwest of the mountain Arakynthos. There are farmlands near the lake shore, and forests on the mountain slopes. Makryneia is southeast of Agrinio, northeast of Missolonghi and northwest of Naupactus.

Gouriotissa
Gouriotissa (; ) is an Aromanian (Vlach) village and a community of the Agrinio municipality. Since the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality Stratos, of which it was a municipal district. The 2021 census recorded 297 residents in the village. The community of Gouriotissa covers an area of 15.774 km2.

Makrinou () is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Makryneia, Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. The community includes the villages Agia Triada, Agioi Apostoloi, Kypseli and Metaxas. It is located on a mountainside southeast of Lake Trichonida. Makrinou is 2 km southwest of Kato Makrinou, 10 km southeast of Gavalou, and 21 km northwest of Naupactus.
