HKT48 (read "H.K.T. Forty-eight") is a Japanese idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. HKT48 is named after the Hakata-ku ward of Fukuoka, where Akimoto originally intended to base the group. The group currently performs at City Bank HKT48 Theater in Fukuoka and has sold nearly 4 million copies of CDs in Japan.

JKT48 (pronounced J-K-T-forty-eight) is Indonesia's premier girl group, established in 2011 as the first international sister group of Japan's AKB48. Based in Jakarta, the capital and largest city of Indonesia located on the northwest coast of the island of Java, the group has become a cultural phenomenon. The group does this by blending music, fan interaction, and performance into a unique idol experience. They first adopted the concept of "idols you can meet", before switching to "idols that come to meet you" in April 2018.

NMB48 (read "N.M.B. Forty-eight") is a Japanese idol group that debuted in 2011 as the second sister group to AKB48, produced by Yasushi Akimoto. NMB48 is named after the Namba district in Osaka city of Osaka Prefecture, where the group is based. The group performs at the NMB48 Theater, which is located in the basement of the Yes-Namba Building in Namba, Osaka. The group has sold over 9 million CDs in Japan.

STU48 (Setouchi48) is a Japanese idol group and sister group of AKB48 named after the Setouchi Region. The group had a from 2019 to 2021. It is co-owned by the tourism board of Setouchi Region and is highly involved in their promotional efforts. The group's captain is Azumi Okada and the vice captain is Akari Fukuda.

It is the first domestic sister group of the Thai idol group BNK48, and the eighth international sister group of AKB48, after Indonesia's JKT48, China's SNH48 (former), Thailand's BNK48, Philippines's MNL48, China's TSH48, Taiwan's TPE48, and Vietnam's SGO48 (disbanded). The group is named after Chiang Mai, a city in Northern Thailand, where it will be based.

NGT48 (pronounced "N.G.T. Forty-eight") is a Japanese girl group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. NGT48 is named after Niigata City of Niigata Prefecture, where the group is based. The group performs at the NGT48 Theater which is located in the fourth floor of the LoveLa2 shopping mall in Niigata City.

SDN48 (read S.D.N. Forty-Eight, short for Saturday Night 48) was a Japanese idol girl group, created and produced by Yasushi Akimoto. SDN48 was created based on an "adult idol" concept. Former AKB48 member Kayo Noro was chosen as the captain of the group. In November 2010, the group made their major label debut with "Gagaga". The group ended with a farewell concert on March 31, 2012.

Forty-eight) is a Filipino idol girl group based in Manila, Philippines, and formed in 2018, they are the fourth international sister group of AKB48, after Indonesia's JKT48, China's SNH48 (former), and Thailand's BNK48. The group is named after Manila, the capital of the Philippines. MNL48 is the only AKB48 sister group that debuted with exactly 48 members on its First Generation.

TPE48, formerly known as AKB48 Team TP, is a Taiwanese idol group and the sixth international sister group of AKB48, after Indonesia's JKT48, China's SNH48 (former), Thailand's BNK48, Philippines's MNL48, and China's TSH48. The group is named after Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan.

SGO48 (short for Saigon 48, read S.G.O. Forty-Eight) was a Vietnamese idol girl group based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the seventh international sister group of AKB48 (after Indonesia's JKT48, China's SNH48 (former), Thailand's BNK48, the Philippines MNL48, China's TSH48, and Taiwan's TPE48). The group debuted on December 22, 2018 and disbanded on their third anniversary, December 22, 2021.

KLP48 (read as K.L.P. Forty-Eight) is a Malaysian idol girl group based in Kuala Lumpur. They are the tenth international sister group of AKB48, after Indonesia's JKT48, China's SNH48 (dissociated), Thailand's BNK48, Philippines's MNL48, China's TSH48, Taiwan's TPE48, Vietnam's SGO48 (disbanded), Thailand's CGM48, and India's DEL48 (disbanded). The group was announced on January 1, 2024. The 1st generation members were announced on July 27, 2024.

DEL48 (read D.E.L. Forty-Eight) was an Indian idol group whose name is derived from its based city in New Delhi, India. They are the ninth international sister group of AKB48, after Indonesia's JKT48, China's SNH48 (former), Thailand's BNK48, Philippines's MNL48, China's TSH48, Taiwan's TPE48, Vietnam's SGO48 (disbanded), and Thailand's CGM48. Adopting the concept of "idols you can meet". Formed in 2019, the group went on a hiatus in October 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later disbanded in July 2022.
AKB48 Team SH
TSH48 (read as T.S.H. Forty-eight), formerly known as AKB48 Team SH is a Chinese idol group based in Shanghai, China and an official sister group of the Japanese idol girl group AKB48. It was established in 2018 after the dissolution of AKB48's relationship with the girl group SNH48 back in 2016.
The group is short for Team Shanghai 48, a re arrangement of the groups former name.
