Dzungaria
Dzungaria, also known as Northern Xinjiang or Beijiang, is a geographical subregion in Northwest China, consisting of the northern half of Xinjiang. Bound by the Altai Mountains to the north and the Tian Shan mountain range to the south, Dzungaria covers approximately , and borders Kazakhstan to the west and Mongolia to the east. In contexts prior to the mid-18th century Dzungar genocide, the term "Dzungaria" could cover a wider area, coterminous with the Oirat-led Dzungar Khanate.

Burkhanism
Burkhanism, known endonymically as Ak Jang ( ; ), is an indigenist new religious movement that flourished among the Altai people of Russia's Altai Republic between 1904 and the 1930s. The Russian Empire was suspicious of the movement's potential to stir up native unrest and perhaps involve outside powers. The Soviet Union ultimately suppressed it for fear of its potential to unify Siberian Turkic peoples under a common nationalism.

Tsambagarav
Tsambagarav (, ) is a mountain between Khovd Province and Bayan-Ölgii Province in western Mongolia, it is a mountain of the Altai Mountains range. It has two peaks, its highest peak "Tsast Uul" (, lit. "snow-covered peak") has an elevation of and another peak same named "Tsambagarav" (48.655196,90.847063). The mountain is the stand-alone eternally snow-capped mountain of the Mongol Altai and the regional sacred mountain in Mongolia.
Türgen
Türgen (, lit. "swift") is a mountain range in the Altai Mountains covering 145.1 thousand hectares of which 104 square kms are covered with snow and ice year round. The range extends about 70 km through the territories of Khovd, Turgen, Buhmurun, and Sagil soums of Uvs Province of Mongolia. A number of rivers take origin in these mountains including Buural, Turgen, Harhiraa, Yamaat and Jivertey.
