Sepultura (, "grave") is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed in Belo Horizonte in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera. They were a major force in the groove metal, thrash metal, and death metal genres during the late 1980s and early 1990s, and were also an integral part of the sound of deathrash. Their style has changed over the years, with the band merging its sound with influences and textures of alternative metal, world music, nu metal, progressive rock, hardcore punk, and industrial metal. Seether are a South African rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's only remaining original member. Exilia
Exilia is an Italian nu metal band from Milan. It was formed in 1998 and as of 2022 is composed of vocalist Masha Mysmane, guitarist Wolve, bassist Simone Matteo Tiraboschi, and drummer Mark Campailla. They have played with a number of bands while on tour, including Otep, Rammstein, HIM, Ill Niño, Die Ärzte, P!NK, In Extremo, Paradise Lost, and Guano Apes.

Pleymo is a French nu metal band formed by Mark Maggiori, Benoît Julliard, Fred Ceraudo, and Mathias Borronquet in Paris in 1997. Pleymo has sold over 100,000 albums to date. The band's name apparently originates from the lead singer once having a haircut as a child that was similar to that of Playmobil figures.

Raimundos is a Brazilian hardcore punk band formed in 1987 by Digão (Rodrigo Aguiar) and Rodolfo Abrantes, in Brasília, Distrito Federal. They had major influences from 1980s punk bands, especially Ramones, which their name is a play on. Raimundos went on to achieve major success and become one of the most influential rock bands of Brazil in the 1990s, with multiple gold records and a double platinum achievement on their MTV live album. The band's prominence decreased significantly with the exit of vocalist Abrantes to focus on religious activities.

In their music there are many hardcore, thrash, folk and punk, and even ambient influences clearly audible. The name of the band comes from a Magic: The Gathering card captioned "Rootwater Commando". The band is famous for their psychedelic album covers. Shihad were a rock band formed in Wellington, New Zealand, in 1988.
