Alternative metal supergroups

Audioslave was an American rockgroup formed in Glendale, California, in 2001. The four-piece band consisted of Soundgarden's lead singer (and rhythm guitarist) Chris Cornell with Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass/backing vocals), and Brad Wilk (drums). Critics first described Audioslave as a combination of Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine, but by the band's second album, Out of Exile, it was noted that they had established a separate identity. Voodoocult was a multinational thrash metal supergroup formed in 1993 by German Phillip Boa, vocalist of the alternative band Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub. The project was especially notable for the reputation of the participating musicians, such as Jim Martin (of Faith No More), Chuck Schuldiner (of Death), Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, and Mille Petrozza of Kreator. The band released two albums and disbanded in 1996 after the release of the second album and a tour.

Spys4Darwin were an American rock supergroup formed in Seattle, Washington in 2001. The short-lived project featured members from Seattle-based groups Queensrÿche and Alice in Chains as well as the frontman of Detroit, Michigan-based group Sponge. Spys4Darwin began with guitarist Chris DeGarmo and drummer Sean Kinney, two friends who had both recently performed with Jerry Cantrell during his solo tour. They were soon joined by bassist Mike Inez and vocalist Vin Dombroski, and began jamming at Binge Studios, a former abandoned paint factory in Seattle. The project marked DeGarmo's first creativ
