Alveringem

Alveringem (; ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Alveringem proper, Beveren-aan-de-IJzer, Gijverinkhove, Hoogstade, Izenberge, Leisele, Oeren, Sint-Rijkers and Stavele. On January 1, 2006, Alveringem had a total population of 4,887. The total area is 80.01 km² which gives a population density of 61 inhabitants per km². The mayor of Alveringem is Gerard Liefooghe (Gemeentebelangen) since 2006.

Leisele is a small Belgian town in Alveringem near the French border with about 750 inhabitants.

Izenberge, de Sint Meldredakerk|thumb|230px|left Izenberge is a Belgian village in the province of West Flanders. Since a fusion in the seventies it belongs now to the larger agglomeration of Alveringem. It's the home of the open-air museum Bachten De Kupe and a local museum of curiosities. Besides a picturesque Romanesque church, it also has a very beautiful baroque chapel, which is still a place of pilgrimage.

Beveren-aan-de-IJzer (West Flemish: ''Bevern-a'n-Yzer) is a village in the municipality of Alveringem in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The village is located near the border with France, and was therefore called Beveren aan de Franse grens'' during the 19th century. Until 1971, Beveren-aan-de-IJzer was an independent municipality.

Hoogstade (formerly Hostede) is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Administratively, it is a sub-municipality of Groot-Alveringem within the municipality of Alveringem. Until 1970, Hoogstade was an independent municipality. Hoogstade is largely agricultural and surrounded by farmland.
