Ōshima-tsumugi
is a traditional craft textile produced in the Amami Islands (mainly Amami Ōshima) in northern Ryukyu Islands, Japan. It is a hand-woven plain-weave silk cloth dyed in mud. The textile is most commonly used for making kimonos. Oshima-tsumugi kimonos are often simply called Ōshima.

shima-uta
is a genre of songs originating from the Amami Islands, northern Ryukyu Islands in the southwest of Japan. It became known nationwide in the 2000s with the success of young pop singers from Amami Ōshima such as Hajime Chitose and Atari Kōsuke.
