Apokoronas

Apokoronas () is a municipality and a former province (επαρχία) in the Chania regional unit, north-west Crete, Greece. It is situated on the north coast of Crete, to the east of Chania itself. The seat of the municipality is the village Vryses. The municipality has an area of . It has a total of 75 villages.

Vamos (Greek: Βάμος) is a small town and former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform "Kallikratis" it is a municipal unit, part of the municipality of Apokoronas, serving as its historical capital. It is situated on a small hill at an altitude of above sea level, about from Chania. In Vamos, one can find several restaurants, snack bars and shops in the village, as well as many public services, such as a fully equipped health center, schools, police station and the regional court for the regions of Apokoronas and Sfakia.

Georgioupoli () is a resort village and former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Apokoronas, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of . It is located east of Chania, about west of Rethymno and about west of Heraklio. It was named after Prince George of Greece, high commissioner of the island in the last years of Ottoman occupation.

Vryses () is a village in Crete, Greece, and the seat of the municipality of Apokoronas. It has a population of 854 inhabitants according to the 2021 census. It is now a popular tourist destination that has maintained its Cretan character.

Fres () is a village and former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Apokoronas, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of . The municipal unit of Fres has a population of 787 (2021). The city has a large main square surrounded by several cafés where the locals in the village meet and socialize. An archway in Fres leads through to the upper village and to the chapel of Our Lady of the Two Rocks.

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Apokoronas, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of . The seat of the municipality is in the village of Kalyves.

Gavalochori, also spelled Gavalohori (Greek: Γαβαλοχώρι), is a 1000-year-old village located in the northwestern part of the island of Crete, Greece. The village lies in a valley about three kilometers/1.86 miles directly inland from the coast, or four kilometers/2.5 mile by road. Gavalochori is located in the municipality of Apokoronas and has a population of 612 (2021).

Kryonerida () is a former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Apokoronas, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of . The seat of the municipality of Kryonerida was the large village of Vryses. Vryses became the seat of the new municipality Apokoronas. It is located in foothills of the White Mountains (Lefka Ori).
