Atheliaceae
Atheliaceae is a family of mostly corticioid fungi placed in the order Atheliales. Both the order and the family were described by the Swiss mycologist Walter Jülich in 1981 along with three other families, Lobuliciaceae, Byssocorticiaceae, Pilodermataceae and Tylosporaceae discovered in 2020. According to a 2008 estimate, the family contains 20 genera and approximately 100 species. However, many genera formerly considered to belong in the Atheliaceae have since been moved to other families, including Amylocorticiaceae, Albatrellaceae, and Hygrophoraceae. Despite being a relatively small group
Atheliales
Atheliales is an order of mostly corticioid or athelioid fungi placed under the Agaricomycetidae subclass. It was first described by Walter Jülich in 1981 along with 4 families, Lobuliciaceae, Atheliaceae, Byssocorticiaceae and Pilodermataceae. Another family was discovered in 2020 called Tylosporaceae. It contains roughly 100 described species in 20 genera with varied ecological diversity. Most species have relatively simple gross morphology and do not have a lot of diagnostic characters. They produce crust-like fruiting bodies attached loosely to their substrate.

Tylospora
Tylospora is a genus of fungi in the family Atheliaceae. The widespread genus contains two species.
Byssocorticium
Byssocorticium is a genus of corticioid fungi in the family Atheliaceae. The widespread genus contains 9 species.
Hypochnella
Hypochnella is a genus of corticioid (crust-like) fungi. It is one of several genera that were doubtfully placed in the order Atheliaceae based on microscopic morphological simultaneous with core Atheliaceae genera. However, a molecular study with emphasis on Atheliales, including samples across most agaricomycete orders, retrivied the species Hypochnella violacea within the order Polyporales. Although a close relationship between Hypochnella violacea and genus Australohydnum was suggested, resolving the phylogenetic position of Hypochnella within Polyporales was outside the scope of the study
Piloderma
Piloderma is a genus of fungi in the family Atheliaceae. The distinguishing characteristics of Piloderma are the thick-walled (roughly 0.25 μm) basidiospores, the club-shaped basidia with stalk-like bases, and the clampless-septate hyphae. The widespread genus contains six species.
Athelicium
Athelicium is a genus of corticioid fungi in the family Atheliaceae. The genus contains two species known from Europe.
Fibulomyces
Fibulomyces is a genus of fungi belonging to the family Atheliaceae.
Pteridomyces
Pteridomyces is a genus of corticioid fungi in the family Atheliaceae.
Butlerelfia
Butlerelfia is a fungal genus in the family Atheliaceae. The genus is monotypic, containing the single corticioid species Butlerelfia eustacei, recorded from Europe and Canada. The species causes fisheye rot of refrigerated apples. The binomial honors H. J. Eustace and L. F. Butler, who first described the species under the name Corticium centrifugum.
