Atyidae
Atyidae is a family of shrimp, present in all tropical and most temperate waters of the world. Adults of this family are almost always confined to fresh water. This is the only family in the superfamily Atyoidea.
Caridina multidentata
species of crustacean
Caridina
Caridina is a genus of freshwater atyid shrimp. They are widely found in tropical or subtropical water in Asia, Oceania and Africa. They are filter-feeders and omnivorous scavengers. They range from 0.9 to 9.8 mm (C. cantonensis) to 1.2–7.4 mm (C. serrata) in carapace length.
Neocaridina
Neocaridina is a genus of small, land-locked freshwater shrimp in the family Atyidae (order Decapoda, infraorder Caridea) native to East Asia. The genus comprises roughly c. 25–30 described species (numbers vary with ongoing revision and differing treatments of synonyms and subspecies).

Paratya
Paratya is a genus of freshwater shrimp of the family Atyidae, found in various islands in the Pacific Ocean. The split between the North Pacific clade (Japan) and the South Pacific clade (New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, Lord Howe Island) has been estimated to have occurred .
Halocaridina
Halocaridina is a genus of atyid shrimp. It contains two species – Halocaridina rubra and Halocaridina palahemo – both endemic to Hawaii. H. rubra is widely kept in aquaria.

Atya
Atya is a genus of freshwater shrimp of the family Atyidae, ranging through the Antilles and along the Atlantic and Pacific slopes of Central and South America and in western Africa. It contains the following species:
Caridina nilotica
species of crustacean
Caridina woltereckae
species of crustacean
Atyopsis
Atyopsis is a genus of freshwater shrimp from Southeast Asia. It was erected in 1983 by Fenner A. Chace, Jr. for two species formerly treated in the genus Atya. It differs from Atya by various characters, including the form of the telson (which is longest at the corners in Atyopsis, but not in Atya) and the presence of a "massive spur" on the male third pereiopod.

Palaemonias
The genus Palaemonias comprises two species of endangered, albinistic, obligate cave shrimp: Alabama cave shrimp – Palaemonias alabamae Smalley, 1961 Kentucky cave shrimp – Palaemonias ganteri Hay, 1901
Troglocaris
Troglocaris is a genus of freshwater shrimp in the family Atyidae. These stygobitic, whitish and eyeless shrimp are found in Southern Europe (Dinaric Alps and West Caucasus). Although locally very common, the small ranges of the individual species make them highly vulnerable to habitat loss, for example by water extraction. Their underground habitat is often extremely stable; for example, the Vipavska jama cave in Slovenia is home to a population of T. anophthalmus, and its water only varies from in the winter to in the summer. In some Dinaric caves, notably Vjetrenica, as many as three specie

Syncaris
Syncaris is a genus of shrimp, containing only two species: the endangered California freshwater shrimp, Syncaris pacifica, and the extinct Pasadena freshwater shrimp, Syncaris pasadenae. This genus is one of only two genera of freshwater Atyid shrimp found in North America, with the other being the genus Palaemonias, which contains two endangered, cave-dwelling shrimp species. The genus Syncaris may have arisen during the Mesozoic, with the family Atyidae likely being of Jurassic origin.

These are small, stygobitic shrimp found in the West Mediterranean region (France and Spain), Caribbean region (the Antilles, Bahamas and Yucatán), Ascension Island and the Galápagos, although the individual species often have very small ranges. Species in this genus are found in salt, brackish and fresh waters, mostly in anchialine habitats and none in the open sea.
