aircraft engine
engine designed for use in powered aircraft
solid-propellant rocket
rocket with a motor that uses solid propellants
thrust vectoring
ability of an aircraft or other craft to manipulate the direction of an engine thrust (e.g. jet or rocket engine)
identification friend or foe
electronic system used to positively identify friendly systems

supercruise
Supercruise is sustained supersonic flight of a supersonic aircraft without using afterburner. Many supersonic military aircraft are not capable of supercruise and can maintain Mach 1+ flight only in short bursts with afterburners. Aircraft such as the SR-71 Blackbird are designed to cruise at supersonic speed with afterburners enabled.

FADEC
In aviation, a full authority digital engine (or electronics) control (FADEC) () is a system consisting of a digital computer, called an "electronic engine controller" (EEC) or "engine control unit" (ECU), and its related accessories that control all aspects of aircraft engine performance. FADECs have been produced for both piston engines and jet engines.

parasitic drag
drag that results when an object moves through a fluid
