Aparajito
Aparajito ( ; The Unvanquished) is a 1956 Indian Bengali-language drama film written and directed by Satyajit Ray, and is the second part of The Apu Trilogy. It is an adaptation of the last part of Bibhutibhushan Bannerjee's novel Pather Panchali and the first part of his followup novel Aparajito. The film starts off where the previous film Pather Panchali (1955) ended, with Apu's family moving to Varanasi, and chronicles Apu's life from childhood to adolescence in college.

Mahanagar (, ) is a 1963 Indian Bengali-language drama film written and directed by Satyajit Ray. Starring Madhabi Mukherjee in the leading role and based on the short story Abataranika by Narendranath Mitra, it tells the story of a housewife who disconcerts her traditionalist family by getting the job of a saleswoman. The film marked the first screen appearance of Jaya Bhaduri, one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses.

Chiriyakhana
Chiriakhana or Chiriyakhana () is a 1967 Indian Bengali-language crime thriller film, based on the story of the same name by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The film is directed and co-written by Satyajit Ray, starring Uttam Kumar as Byomkesh Bakshi. The screenplay is written by Satyajit Ray. The film was once considered Ray's worst film because of its complex plot and unfaithfulness to its source material, however the flexible acting of Uttam Kumar was praised by many critics at that time. The film was remade in Hindi as a television series Byomkesh Bakshi with Rajit Kapoor aired in Doordarshan.

Pratidwandi tells the story of Siddharta, an educated middle-class man caught up in the turmoil of social unrest. Kharij, often translated as The Case is Closed, is a 1982 Bengali film directed by Mrinal Sen and produced by Neelkanth Films. It is based on the 1974 novel of the same by Ramapada Chowdhury. It follows a Calcutta family struggling with guilt after their child servant dies from carbon monoxide poisoning in the kitchen, exposing the Bengali middle class's societal structure that upholds the status quo for social and economic survival. The film was a box office success and won the Jury Prize at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival along with widespread critical acclaim.

Antareen (The Confined) is a 1993 Bengali-language Indian film directed by Mrinal Sen. Although based on the 1950 Saadat Hasan Manto story Badshahat Ka Khatimah, the screenplay has a different ending. It stars Anjan Dutt and Dimple Kapadia.
Antareen was the first non-Hindi project Kapadia took part in since Vikram (1986). She played a woman caught in a loveless marriage. Insisting on playing her part spontaneously, Kapadia refused to enroll in a crash-course in Bengali as she wrongly felt that she would be able to speak it convincingly.
