Saltstraumen
or is a small strait with one of the strongest tidal currents in the world. It is located in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located about southeast of the town of Bodø. The narrow channel connects the outer Saltfjorden to the large Skjerstad Fjord between the islands of Straumøya and Knaplundsøya. The Saltstraumen Bridge on Norwegian County Road 17 crosses Saltstraumen.
Løding
Løding is a village in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located about east of the town of Bodø, and is connected to the town by the Tverlandet Bridge. The village is mostly referred to as Tverlandet, which also encompasses the areas Hopen, Vatne, Heggmoen, Mjønes, Vågan, Holand, Skålbunes, Elstad, Oddan, Allmenningen, Godøynes (Gaunes), and Naurstad, all of which lies around the village.

Kjerringøy is a village in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village is located about north of the town of Bodø, along the Karlsøyfjorden, just south of the entrance to the Folda fjord. The Kjerringøy Church is located in the village.

Straumøya
Straumøya is an island in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island is located on the south side of the Saltfjorden, just west of the Saltstraumen strait. The island is connected to the mainland by the Indre Sunnan Bridge and to the nearby island Knaplundsøya by the Saltstraumen Bridge, both bridges are a part of Norwegian County Road 17. In 2016, the island had 278 residents.
Saltfjorden
or is a fjord in Bodø Municipality and Gildeskål Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The long fjord begins around the Fleinvær islands; travels northeast past the islands of Sørarnøya, Sandhornøya, and Straumøya islands; along the southern shores of the town of Bodø; and ends at the village of Løding.
Skjerstad
(Norwegian; ) or is a village in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The small village of Skjerstad sits at the mouth of the Misværfjorden, where it joins Skjerstadfjorden. The village is also the location of Skjerstad Church. The village was the namesake of the old Skjerstad Municipality which existed from 1838 until 2005.
Heggmovatnet
Heggmovatnet is a lake that lies in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The lake is located about northeast of the village of Løding. The lake is regulated and it is the main water source for the town of Bodø. The water flows out of the lake into the river Heggmoelva, which then flows into the lake Vatnvatnet. Sjunkhatten National Park surrounds the lake.

Knaplundsøya
Knaplundsøya is an island in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island lies just southeast of the town of Bodø, between the Saltfjorden and the Skjerstadfjorden. The island is connected to the mainland and to the neighboring island of Straumøya by the Norwegian County Road 17. The Saltstraumen strait and its famous maelstrom are located between Straumøya and Knaplundsøya. The island had 392 residents in 2016, mostly living on the western village of Knaplund and the northeastern village of Godøya.

Helligvær is an island group in the Vestfjorden in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The islands are located about northwest of the town of Bodø. The Bliksvær islands are about to the south, Landegode island is to the east, and the islands of Røstlandet and Værøya are about to the west.
Keiservarden
Keiservarden is a mountain plateau on top of Veten hill near Bodø, Nordland in northern Norway (not to be confused with Veten near Bergen). It lies 366 meters (1,201 feet) above sea level and is named after German Emperor Wilhelm II, who supposedly climbed the mountain on one of his many visits to Norway on 19 July 1899. It is disputed though whether Wilhelm II really visited the place. The second half of the designation, varden is a Norwegian word for a pile of stones that indicate a mountaintop as well as the way up there.

Valnesvatnet
Valnesvatnet is a lake that lies in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The lake lies along the Norwegian County Road 17 about north of the border with Gildeskål Municipality, just northeast of the village of Nygårdsjøen. The water in the lake flows out over the Valnesfossen waterfall on its way to the sea.

or is a fjord in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in Sørfold Municipality and Bodø Municipality. The Sørfolda is a southeastern branch of the main Folda fjord. Side branches include the Nevelsfjorden, Eidekjosen, Skjunkfjorden, and Leirfjorden. The deepest part of the fjord reaches below sea level.
