In historical linguistics, betacism ( , ) is a sound change in which (the voiced bilabial plosive, as in bane) and (the voiced labiodental fricative , as in vane) are confused. The final result of the process can be either /b/ → [v] or /v/ → [b]. Betacism is a fairly common phenomenon; it has taken place in Greek, Hebrew, and several Romance languages.

Correllengua
The Correllengua () is a campaign that is held annually in the Catalan Countries. Created in 1993 by cultural Catalan association ''Coordinadora d'Associacions per la Llengua Catalana'' (CAL), it has the aim of promoting the use of Catalan language. Inspired by the Basque Korrika, the Correllengua is a series of celebrations, street dances, cultural acts and fanfare of all kinds (such as Correfoc) in order to spread the Catalan language.

TERMCAT
TERMCAT is a public Catalan institution created in 1985 in order to ensure the development and integration of Catalan terminology for the preparation of terminological resources, standardization of terminology neologisms and advice on a regular and ongoing dialogue with users specialists. Since 1998, its terminology notices are obligatory in the scientific and technical publications of the public administration of the country. Neologisms are approved and published in the Official Journal Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

Xarnego () in Catalan or charnego in Spanish is a pejorative or descriptive term used primarily in the 1950s–70s in Catalonia (Spain) to refer to economic migrants from other regions of Spain. In its modern usage, it refers to Catalans with recent heritage from Spanish-speaking parts of Spain. The word is used solely in the context of internal migration.
