Gandaraditha Chola succeeded his father Parantaka I and became the Chola king about 955. He was also a Tamil literary poet in the Thiruvisaippa Palandu. He had a son named Madurantaka Chola also known as Uttama Chola, who became Chola emperor after his cousin Sundara Chola.

Athirajendra Chola
Athirajendra (1020 – June 1070) reigned for a very short period of few months as the Chola king succeeding his father Virarajendra. His reign was marked by civil unrest, possibly religious in nature. Athirajendra was last clan of Chola dynasty. He was killed in the religious chaos. Virarajendra Chola
Virarajendra Chola (1002 – 1070) was a Chola emperor. A son of Rajendra I, he spent a majority of his life as a subordinate to two of his elder brothers, Rajadhiraja I and Rajendra II. During his early reign, he founded a school to study the Vedas, Sastras and grammar, with a hostel for students. He also founded a hospital named Virasolan. The famous Tamil Buddhist grammatical work, '''', was written by Buddhamitra during his reign.
