Balkanabat
Balkanabat (), formerly Nebit-Dag and Neftedag, is the administrative centre of Balkan Province, the largest province in Turkmenistan. It lies at the foot of the Balkan Daglary mountain range. Balkanabat is about 450 km west of Ashgabat and 160 km east of the seaport city of Türkmenbaşy. The city layout is a grid of apartment blocks called kvartal (quarters). The main streets are Magtymguly, Pervomayskiy and Gurbansoltan eje şaýoly.

Gyzylarbat
Gyzylarbat, formerly known as Kyzyl-Arvat (1881-1992), Serdar (1999-2022) or Farāva, is a city in Balkan Province, Turkmenistan, and the administrative center of Gyzylarbat District. The city is located northwest of Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, at the end of the line of oases on the northern slope of the Kopet Dag that extends to the southeast. It lies along the M37 highway going to the Caspian Sea. The population of Gyzylarbat was roughly circa 50,000 people as of 2022, mainly ethnic Turkmen. The main language spoken in the region is Turkmen.

Tejen
Tejen (older spellings: Tedzhen, Tejend, Tejent) is an oasis city in the Karakum Desert, in Ahal Province of Turkmenistan. It lies along the M37 highway, between Duşak and Mary, by road southeast of Ashgabat. It has a population of approximately 67,500. To the east is the larger oasis of Mary. Khlopin suggests Tejen may have been the birthplace of Zoroaster.

Serhetabat (), formerly known as Guşgy or Kushka (), is a city in Tagtabazar District, Mary Province,Turkmenistan. Serhetabat lies in the valley of the Guşgy River, bordering Afghanistan. The city mirrors Torghundi, Afghanistan, with which it is connected by a road and a gauge railway. In 2022, it had a population of 16,038 people.

Magdanly, formerly known as Gowurdak or Gaurdak (in ), is a city in Köýtendag District, Lebap Province, Turkmenistan. In 2022, it had a population of 44,508 people.

Bereket, before 1999 Gazanjyk or Kazandzhik ( or gɑˈzɑnd͡ʒik), is a city in Balkan Province in western Turkmenistan. Bereket is the administrative centre of Bereket District.
Ýolöten
Ýolöten () is the capital city of Ýolöten District, Mary Province, Turkmenistan. The city is located in the delta of the Murghab River, southeast of Mary. It was granted the status of a city in 1939. In 2022, it had a population of 30,709 people.

Gökdepe, previously spelled "Geok-Tepe" ("Геок-Тепе") in Russian, is a city in and the administrative center of Gökdepe District, Ahal Region, Turkmenistan, north-west of Ashgabat. The city is built around a former fortress of the Turkmens which bore the same name. The city lies along the M37 highway and the Trans-Caspian Railway. In 2022, it had a population of 33,381 people.

Bäherden, formerly Baharly (2003–2018), is a city and the seat of Bäherden District, Ahal Province, Turkmenistan. It lies on the northern rim of the Kopet Dag mountain range, south-east of the resort town of Arçman. In 2022, it had a population of 37,588 people.

Seýdi, formerly known as Neftezavodsk (in Russian: Нефтезаводск), is a city in Dänew District, Lebap Province, Turkmenistan. The city is located on the left bank of the Amu Darya River, circa 35 km northwest of Dänew. The country's second largest oil refinery is located in Seýdi. In 2022, it had reportedly a population of 29,670 people.
Garabogaz
Garabogaz (), formerly named Bekdaş () is a city subordinate to Turkmenbashy District, Balkan province, Turkmenistan, on the shore of the Caspian Sea. In 2002, the town of Bekdaş was promoted to the status of city and was renamed on the same occasion. As of 2022, the city reached a population of 7,877 people.

Köýtendag is a city and the administrative center of Köýtendag District in Lebap Province, Turkmenistan. On 29 December 1999, by Parliamentary Resolution No. HM-61, the city and district of Çarşangy (sometimes rendered as "Charshangy") were renamed Köýtendag. On 27 July 2016, by Parliamentary Resolution No. 425-V the town of Köýtendag was upgraded in status to "city in a district".
