73P/Schwassmann–Wachmann
73P/Schwassmann–Wachmann, also known as Schwassmann–Wachmann 3 or SW3 for short, is a periodic comet that has a 5.4 year orbital period and that has been actively disintegrating since 1995. When it came to perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) in March 2017, fragment 73P-BT was separating from the main fragment 73P-C. Fragments 73P-BU and 73P-BV were detected in July 2022. The main comet came to perihelion on 25 August 2022, when the comet was 0.97 AU from the Sun and 1 AU from Earth. It will be less than 80 degrees from the Sun from 25 May 2022 until August 2023. On 3 April 2025 it made a
22P/Kopff
Comet Kopff or 22P/Kopff is a Jupiter-family comet with a 6.36-year orbit around the Sun. Discovered on 23 August 1906, it was named after its discoverer, August Kopff. The comet was missed on its November 1912 return, but was recovered on June 1919 and has been seen at every apparition since. Close approaches to Jupiter in 1938 and 1943 decreased the perihelion distance and orbital period. 22P/Kopff’s last perihelion passage was 18 March 2022.
41P/Tuttle–Giacobini–Kresák
41P/Tuttle–Giacobini–Kresák is a Jupiter-family comet with a 5.43-year orbit around the Sun. Observations with the Hubble Space Telescope and dynamical modeling estimate an effective nucleus radius of , corresponding to a diameter of roughly , smaller than earlier ground-based estimates.
80P/Peters–Hartley
80P/Peters–Hartley is a Jupiter-family comet with an orbital period of 8.06 years around the Sun. It is the first of two comets discovered by German–American astronomer, Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters, later becoming lost and subsequently recovered by Australian astronomer, Malcolm Hartley.
205P/Giacobini
205P/Giacobini is a Jupiter-family comet with an orbital period of 6.68 years. It was discovered by Michel Giacobini on 4 September 1896 and then it was lost until it was recovered by Koichi Itagaki on 10 September 2008. The comet was then found to have fragmented into three pieces.
100P/Hartley 1
Comet Hartley 1, also known as 100P/Hartley, is a Jupiter family comet with a 6.35-year orbit around the Sun. It is one of 12 comets discovered by Australian astronomer, Malcolm Hartley.
113P/Spitaler
Comet Spitaler is a Jupiter-family comet with a 7.1-year orbit around the Sun. It is the only comet discovered by Austrian astronomer, Rudolf Ferdinand Spitaler.
116P/Wild
116P/Wild, also known as Wild 4, is a periodic comet in the Solar System. It fits the definition of an Encke-type comet with (TJupiter > 3; a Jupiter).

51P/Harrington
51P/Harrington is a periodic comet in the Solar System.
97P/Metcalf–Brewington
97P/Metcalf–Brewington is a periodic Jupiter-family comet originally discovered by Joel H. Metcalf in 1906 but subsequently lost. A new observation in 1991 by Howard J. Brewington was matched to the 1906 sighting; the orbit was computed and the comet was observed again on its returns to perihelion in 2001, 2011, and 2022.
152P/Helin–Lawrence
152P/Helin–Lawrence is a Jupiter-family comet with a 9.52-year orbit around the Sun. It is the third comet co-discovered by Eleanor F. Helin and Kenneth J. Lawrence.
44P/Reinmuth
44P/Reinmuth or Reinmuth 2 is a Jupiter-family comet that is greatly perturbed by the gas giant Jupiter. The diameter of this comet is estimated at and its absolute magnitude at 14.
61P/Shajn–Schaldach
61P/Shajn–Schaldach is a periodic comet in the Solar System with a current orbital period of 7.49 years.
99P/Kowal
99P/Kowal, also known as Kowal 1, is a periodic comet in the Solar System that orbits out by Jupiter and has a 15 year orbital period. It has been observed regularly since 2019. Its most recent perihelion occurred in April 2022, and it is expected to return by May 2037.
118P/Shoemaker–Levy
118P/Shoemaker–Levy (also known as Shoemaker–Levy 4) is a Jupiter-family comet discovered by astronomers Carolyn and Eugene M. Shoemaker and David Levy.
104P/Kowal
104P/Kowal, also known as Kowal 2, is a periodic Jupiter-family comet discovered by Charles T. Kowal in 1979. The orbit was confirmed after new sightings in 1991 and 1998.
169P/NEAT
169/NEAT is a periodic comet in the Solar System. It is the parent body of the alpha Capricornids meteor shower in late July. 169/NEAT may be related to comet P/2003 T12 (SOHO).
259P/Garradd
259P/Garradd is a Jupiter-family comet and active asteroid with an orbital period of 4.5 years. It was discovered in images obtained on 2 September 2008 as part of the Siding Spring Survey by Gordon J. Garradd.
