Kanara, also known as Canara and Karāvali, is the historically significant stretch of land situated by the southwestern coast of India, alongside the Arabian Sea in the present-day Indian state of Karnataka.

It is similar to Maramadi of Kerala. Traditionally, it is sponsored by local Tuluva landlords and households in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Bhatkal of Karnataka and Kasaragod of Kerala, a region collectively known as Tulu Nadu.

Siddavesa is a type of religious and traditional folk dance. The Arebhahse people of Sullia perform this dance during the full moon in the month of Suggi on the Tulu calendar. During this month, Suggi Nalike is also performed. Siddavesha performances take place from late evening until morning, with the dancers visiting the homes of people from all social strata.
