Dance in the Netherlands

Jumpstyle is an electronic dance music genre that emerged in Western Europe in the late 1990s, particularly in Belgium and the Netherlands. It is associated with a distinctive dance style commonly referred to as jumpen.

The music one is able to do the dance to is also called hakmuziek. The name is derived from the Dutch verb hakken which refers to the heels of the feet.
