Date cultivars

The Medjool date ( - tamar al-majhūl. Tamar means 'date' and majhūl means 'unknown', from جَهِلَ jahila, 'to not know') also known as Medjoul, Mejhoul or Majhool, is a large, sweet cultivated variety of date (Phoenix dactylifera). It is an important commercial variety constituting some 25% of worldwide trade in dates.

Mazafati (; or mozafati and Bam date; also called muzati in Balochi) is a cultivar of the palm date. It is a dark, soft, fleshy and sweet date of medium size, about with a relatively high moisture content of between 32 and 35%, varying with the time of harvest and the location of the grow.

Piarom () is a cultivar of the palm date originating from southern Iran. It is large, with thin, black-brown skin. It is one of the semi-dry date varieties.

Sukkari or sukkary () is a cultivar of the palm date that is widely grown in Saudi Arabia. Its skin is light yellow or golden brown. Sukkari dates are soft and extremely sweet.
