Sanhaja
The Sanhaja (, or ; , pl. , and , pl. ) were a large Berber tribal confederation, along with the Zanata and Masmuda confederations. Many tribes in Algeria, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Tunisia and Western Sahara bore and still carry this ethnonym, especially in its Berber form.
Masmuda
The Masmuda (, Berber: ⵉⵎⵙⵎⵓⴷⵏ) is a Berber tribal confederation, one of the largest in the Maghreb, along with the Zenata and the Sanhaja. Historical Arabic sources locate them within the Maghreb, primarily in territories that fall within the borders of present-day Morocco, with additional communities noted in what is now Algeria.

The Gnawa () (or Gnaoua, Ghanawa, Ghanawi, Gnawi'; ) are an ethnic group inhabiting Morocco, that had been brought as slaves from the West African Sahel.
Riffian people
Riffians or Rifians (; ) are a Berber ethnic group originally from the Rif region of northeastern Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melilla. Communities of Riffian immigrants are also found in southern Spain, Netherlands and Belgium as well as elsewhere in Western Europe. They are overwhelmingly Sunni Muslims and speak Tarifit and Moroccan Arabic.

Haratin
The Haratin (, singular Ḥarṭānī), also spelled Haratine or Harratin, are an ethnic group found in western Sahel and southwestern Maghreb. The Haratin are mostly found in modern Mauritania (where they form a plurality), Morocco, Western Sahara, Senegal, and Algeria.

Reguibat tribe
The Reguibat (; variously transliterated Reguibate, Rguibat, ''R'gaybat, R'gibat, Erguibat, Ergaybat'') is a Sahrawi tribal confederation of mixed Arab and Sanhaja Berber origins. The Reguibat speak Hassaniya Arabic, and are Arab in culture. They claim descent from Sidi Ahmed al-Reguibi, an Arab Islamic preacher from Beni Hassan who settled in Saguia el-Hamra in 1503. They also believe that they are, through him, a chorfa tribe, i.e. descendants of Muhammad. Kebdana
The Kebdana or Ichebdanen (Berber: ⵉⵛⴱⴷⴰⵏⴻⵏ) are a Riffian-Berber tribe of Zenata origin that lives in the eastern part of the Rif, in northeastern Morocco between Nador and Berkane. They lived primarily in the villages of Kebdana, an area in the Rif region South of Arekmane. Due to migration, many Ichebdanen live now in the cities of the region and in Europe. The main cities of the Ichebdanen are Zaio, Arekmane and Ras Kebdana. In Nador, Berkane and Selouane live many Ichebdanen because of their jobs.
In the Rif region are Ichebdanen famous for their use of the consonant „l“ in many words.
Tekna
The Tekna () is a Sahrawi semi-nomadic tribal confederation. It is of mixed Hassani Arab and Sanhaja Berber origins. Its present-day constituents inhabit southern Morocco, northern Western Sahara and western Algeria, though their traditional migration routes extend beyond these areas.
