The brand originated with the German Mederer Group, which owns the brand in the majority of the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Mederer's United States business was sold in 1997, and the Trolli trademark in the United States, Canada, and Mexico is now used by Ferrara Candy Company.

Pixy Stix are currently manufactured by Ferrara Candy Company, a division of Ferrero.
