Namkeen
Namkeen (), is a 1982 Hindi-language social drama film, directed by Gulzar, and starring Sanjeev Kumar, Sharmila Tagore, Shabana Azmi and Waheeda Rehman. It was yet another film by Gulzar made on some very sensitive but untouched aspects of Indian society especially in rural areas. The story Akal Basanta was by Samaresh Basu on whose story, Gulzar had previously made Kitaab (1977).

Kitaab (English: The Book) is a 1977 Indian drama film written and directed by Gulzar. The film stars Uttam Kumar, Vidya Sinha, Shreeram Lagoo, Keshto Mukherjee and Asit Sen. The film was based on Bengali story Pathik by Samaresh Basu. The musical score is by R. D. Burman with lyrics by Gulzar.

Shoukheen (in Bengali; ), also known as Shaukeen, is a 1982 Indian bilingual comedy film simultaneously shot in Bengali and Hindi languages, directed by Basu Chatterjee. Based on story Ram Nam Kewalam by Samaresh Basu and was loosely based on the 1962 American movie ''Boys' Night Out''. The movie stars Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt, A.K. Hangal, Rati Agnihotri and Mithun Chakraborty.
