Nightwish is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Kitee. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former lead singer Tarja Turunen. The band soon picked up drummer Jukka Nevalainen, and then bassist Sami Vänskä after the release of their debut album, Angels Fall First (1997). In 2001, Vänskä was replaced by Marko Hietala, who also took over the male vocalist role previously filled by Holopainen or guest singers. Stratovarius is a Finnish power metal band formed in 1984. They have released sixteen studio albums, six DVDs and six live albums. The band's line-up has changed many times, with no founding member left since the departure of drummer Tuomo Lassila in 1995, and no member from their early recording days left following guitarist Timo Tolkki's departure in 2008. Currently, the longest standing member is singer Timo Kotipelto, who joined in 1994.

Warmen is a Finnish heavy metal band assembled by keyboardist Janne "Warman" Wirman. Wirman had played with Children of Bodom since 1997, and in 2000 created the neoclassical/melodic power metal project Warmen focused on instrumental work in the first two albums, with the next three albums heavily relying on guest singers. In 2023, the band added full-time singer Petri Lindroos and moved towards a melodic death metal style similar to Children of Bodom.

Battlelore
Battlelore are a Finnish heavy metal band from Lappeenranta, founded in 1999 by guitarist Jyri Vahvanen and bassist Miika Kokkola. The name derives from the union of the words 'battle' and 'folklore'. Many of Battlelore's lyrics concern J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth sagas and their stage costumes and live shows are largely inspired by the themes and characters of fantasy literature. Cadacross was a Finnish melodic death metal band formed in 1997. They went through a major line-up change after their debut album So Pale Is the Light. Georg Laakso, guitarist and vocalist, was the only remaining member from the previous lineup. By Cadacross' second album Corona Borealis, their sound had become more distinctive and had more in common with such bands as Turisas and other Finnish viking and folk metal bands.

Symfonia
Symfonia was a short-lived symphonic power metal supergroup formed in 2010 by Andre Matos (vocals), Timo Tolkki (guitars), Jari Kainulainen (bass), Mikko Härkin (keyboards) and Uli Kusch (drums). On February 18, 2011, the band made its debut performance at the Finnish Metal Expo. The band released its only album, In Paradisum, in March 2011.
