It is located on the northwestern coast of the island of Kvaløya, just north of the village of Rypefjord and southwest of the village of Forsøl. Rypefjord
Rypefjord is a village in Hammerfest Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located just south of the town of Hammerfest on the western side of the large island of Kvaløya. Rypefjord was the main population centre of the former municipality of Sørøysund, which existed from 1852 until its dissolution in 1992. Fjordtun primary school is located in Rypefjord.
Melkøya

Snøhvit () is the name of a natural gas field in the Norwegian Sea, situated northwest of Hammerfest, Norway. The northern part of the Norwegian Sea is often described as the Barents Sea by offshore petroleum companies. Snøhvit is also the name of a development of Snøhvit and the two neighbouring natural gas fields Albatross and Askeladden. Sørøysundet
Sørøysundet is a strait in Hasvik Municipality and Hammerfest Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The strait is between wide. The strait separates the large island of Sørøya from the islands of Stjernøya, Seiland, and Kvaløya. To the southwest the strait opens up into Lopphavet sea. The small island of Håja lies in the strait, about west of the town of Hammerfest. There are no bridges or tunnels that cross the strait, but there are ferry routes crossing it.

The strait separates the island of Kvaløya from the mainland. The strait is crossed by Kvalsund Bridge, which connects Kvaløya to the mainland and is the world's northernmost suspension bridge. Norway's first power station based on tidal currents is located in the strait.
Kårhamn
Kårhamn is a small fishing village in Hammerfest Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on an isolated peninsula on the northwestern tip of the large island of Seiland. The village has roads in it, but none of them are connected to the rest of Norway, so boat access to the village is required. Kårhamn was historically a part of the former Sørøysund Municipality, but after that municipality's dissolution in 1992 the village was merged into Hammerfest Municipality.
Nordefjorden
or is a fjord on the west side of the island of Seiland in Hammerfest Municipality, Finnmark county, Norway. The fjord extends about southeastwards to the Nordre Bumannsfjorddalen valley at the bottom of the fjord. About out into the fjord, the fjord reaches a maximum depth of . The fjord has no coastal settlements. The Sørefjorden lies a little further south.

The glacier surrounds the mountain of Seilandstuva, which is the highest peak of the island, and the highest peak in Hammerfest Municipality.
