or is an island in western Finnmark county, Norway. The island sits at the mouth of the Altafjorden on the south side of the Sørøysundet strait. It is divided among the municipalities of Loppa, Hasvik, and Alta.
Breivikbotn
Breivikbotn is the administrative centre of Hasvik Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is an old trading post and fishing village that is located on the western end of the island of Sørøya, looking out across the Lopphavet Sea. The village lies along Norwegian County Road 822 in the central part of the municipality. The village of Hasvik lies about to the south, the former village of Dønnesfjord lies about to the northeast, and the village of Sørvær lies about to the west.

Lopphavet
Lopphavet is a stretch of open sea along the border of Troms and Finnmark counties in Norway. It has a width of about , and it stretches between the large island of Sørøya in Finnmark and the islands of Arnøya and Nord-Fugløya in Troms. The Sørøysundet strait and the Altafjorden connect to the Lopphavet on the east side of the sea. The Kvænangen fjord connects to the south. The Fugløysundet strait connects to it in the west.
Sørøysundet
Sørøysundet is a strait in Hasvik Municipality and Hammerfest Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The strait is between wide. The strait separates the large island of Sørøya from the islands of Stjernøya, Seiland, and Kvaløya. To the southwest the strait opens up into Lopphavet sea. The small island of Håja lies in the strait, about west of the town of Hammerfest. There are no bridges or tunnels that cross the strait, but there are ferry routes crossing it.
