Roopkund
Roopkund, locally known as Mystery Lake or Skeleton Lake, is a high-altitude glacial lake in Himalayas at an altitude of , between Trishul peak (7,120 m) and Nanda Ghunti peak (6,310 m), in the Chamoli District of Uttarakhand state of India. Surrounded by rock-strewn glaciers and snow-clad mountains, Roopkund is a popular trekking destination. The size of the lake varies substantially, but it is seldom more than 40 metres in diameter (1000 to 1500 square metres in area), and is frozen in the winter.

The Assi Ganga river emerges from Dodital and joins Bhagirathi at the confluence in Gangori, near Uttarkashi. The lake is named after sage Dodi who had mediated there. The lake is home to freshwater trout.
