Horten

Horten () is a municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Jarlsberg. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Horten. Other population centers in Horten Municipality include the town of Åsgårdstrand and the villages of Nykirke, Skoppum, and Borre. The municipality is located on a peninsula along the Ytre Oslofjord.

Åsgårdstrand (historically spelled Aasgaardstrand) is a small port town in both Horten and Tønsberg municipalities in Vestfold county, Norway. The town is located along the shore of the Ytre Oslofjord, about south of the town of Horten, about to the north of the town of Tønsberg, and about south of the capital city of Oslo. The villages of Borre and Skoppum both lie a short distance northwest of Åsgårdstrand.

Nykirke () is a village in Horten Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located along the European route E18 about to the west of the town of Horten, about to the south of the town of Holmestrand, and about to the north of the village of Skoppum.

Bastøy is an island in Horten Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The island is owned by the government and it has no permanent residents, however, Bastøy Prison, a minimum-security prison, is located on the island, so there are always temporary residents on the island. The Bastøy Lighthouse was established on the island in 1840.

Citadellet (Citadel) was a 19th-century Norwegian fortress. The last day of military activity was in 1970. The fort was demolished in 1971.
