Lalleshwari
Lalleshwari, ( also commonly known as Lal Ded (), was a Kashmiri mystic of the Kashmir Shaivism school of Hindu philosophy. She was the creator of the style of mystic poetry called vatsun or Vakhs, meaning "speech" (from Sanskrit vāc). Known as Lal Vakhs, her verses are among the early compositions in the Kashmiri language and are a part of the history of modern Kashmiri literature.

Kshemendra (; ) was an 11th-century Sanskrit polymath poet, satirist, philosopher, historian, dramatist, translator and art critic from Kashmir.
Bilhana
Bilhana was a 11th-century Sanskrit-language poet from Kashmir. He traveled to different parts of India, and received royal patronage from the Kalachuri king Lakshmi-karna, the Chaulukya king Karna, and the Kalyani Chalukya king Vikramaditya VI.

Rudrata
Rudrata (, ) () was a Kashmiri poet and literary theorist, who wrote a work called the Kavyalankara in the first quarter of the ninth century. Very little is known about Rudrata. From Namisadhu's commentary on the verses 12-14 of the fifth chapter of the Kavyalankara, it is inferred that he was also known as Shatananda and his father's name was Bhamuka.

Mahjoor
Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad (August 1885 − 9 April 1952), known by his pen name as Mahjoor, was a poet of the Kashmir Valley. He is especially noted for introducing a new style into Kashmiri poetry and for expanding Kashmiri poetry into previously unexplored thematic realms. Mahjoor is recognized as father of Kashmiri poetry.
