Landforms of Thessaly

The Pindus, Pindos or Pindhos is a mountain range located in Northern Greece and Southern Albania. It is roughly long, with a maximum elevation of (Mount Smolikas). Because it runs north to south along much of mainland Greece, the Pindus range is known colloquially as the spine of Greece. The mountain range stretches from near the Greek-Albanian border in southern Albania, entering the Epirus and Macedonia regions in northern Greece down to the north of the Peloponnese. Geologically, it is an extension of the Dinaric Alps, which dominate the western region of the Balkan Peninsula.

The (Northern) Sporades are an archipelago along the east coast of Greece, northeast of the island of Euboea, in the Aegean Sea. They consist of 24 islands, four of which are permanently inhabited: Alonnisos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Skyros. They may also be referred to as the Thessalian Sporades ().

Athamanika or Tzoumerka (Greek: Αθαμανικά or Τζουμέρκα) is a mountain range in northwestern Greece, part of the wider Pindus mountain range. Its highest point is the mountain Kakarditsa, at 2,429 m. Its length is approximately 40 km from north to south and its width is approximately 15 to 20 km from east to west. The only major road crossing the Athamanika is the Greek National Road 30 (Arta - Trikala - Karditsa - Volos).

Antichasia () is a forested mountain range in the northern Trikala and Larissa regional units in Thessaly, Greece. The range is part of the eastern foothills of the Pindus mountains. Its highest point is 1,424 m elevation, in the eastern part of the mountains. The Meteora rocks near Kalampaka are considered part of Antichasia. Antichasia stretches from the valley of the river Mourgkani in the west to the valley of the river Titarisios in the east.
