Kongamato
The Kongamato ("breaker of boats") is a cryptozoological, pterosaur-like creature reportedly seen by members of the indigenous population and researchers in the Jiwundu Swamps in the Mwinilunga district of western Zambia, Angola, and Democratic Republic of the Congo. It has been suggested that it may be a modern-day Rhamphorhynchus, an unidentified bird (such as the very large and peculiar saddle-billed stork), or a giant bat. No photographs have been taken of it. Most accounts are based on large wounds and eyewitness accounts.

Apotamkin
The Apotamkin (also spelled apotampkin) is a creature in Native American mythology. According to the mythology, it is a giant fanged sea monster that lives in the Passamaquoddy Bay and pulls people in to eat them, particularly careless children. It is said to have long red hair, and in some versions, it was a human woman before being changed into a serpent. One interpretation of Apotamkin myth is that it was used to instill fear into children to keep them from venturing into areas alone and without parental guidance.

The azhdaha, azhdahak, ezhdeha () or azhdar (اژدر) is a mythical creature in Iranian mythology, roughly equivalent to the dragon. In Persian literature, they are depicted as gigantic, winged serpents that live in the air, in the sea, or on the earth. According to tradition, azhdaha have huge bodies, fierce faces, bright eyes, and wide mouths with many teeth. The azhdaha are principally discussed in Sad dar-e nathr and sad dar-e Bondahesh, Shahnameh and Garshaspnameh.

In Māori mythology, taniwha () are large supernatural beings that live in deep pools in rivers, dark caves, or in the sea, especially in places with dangerous currents or deceptive breakers (giant waves).
They may be considered highly respected kaitiaki (protective guardians) of people and places, or in some traditions as dangerous, predatory beings, which for example would kidnap women to have as wives.
