Vipoig of the Picts
Vipoig (died c. A.D. 341) was a legendary Pictish king said to have ruled from around 311 to 341. He is only known from the Pictish Chronicle, a regnal list of Pictish monarchs. He is the first king mentioned in the chronicles and was said to be succeeded by Canutulachama. The etymology of Vipoig was suggested as from Vepogenus/Uepogenus, connected to Welsh (face) + geno (lineage, family).
Lailoken
Lailoken (aka Merlyn Sylvester) was a semi-legendary madman and prophet who lived in the Caledonian Forest in the late 6th century. The Life of Saint Kentigern mentions "a certain foolish man, who was called Laleocen" living at or near the village of Peartnach (Partick) within the Kingdom of Strathclyde. Laleocen correctly prophesied the death of King Rhydderch Hael.
