Basava
Vishwaguru Basavanna (1131–1196), also called ' and ', was an Indian philosopher, poet, Lingayat social reformer in the Shiva-focused bhakti movement, and a Hindu Shaivite social reformer during the reign of the Kalyani Chalukya and the Kalachuri Dynasty. Basava was active during the rule of both dynasties, but his influence peaked during the reign of King Bijjala II in Karnataka, India.

Gorehabba ( in Kannada) is a local Hindu folklore festival celebrated in a village called Gumatapura, a Kannada-speaking village which lies on the border shared by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Gumatapura, also spelled Gumatapur, was formerly part of Chamarajanagar district in Karnataka and was transferred to Tamil Nadu following the States Reorganisation Act.

Kudalasangama (also written as Kudala Sangama) in India is an important centre of pilgrimage for Lingayats, a religious denomination of Hinduism. It is located about from the Almatti Dam in Bagalkote district of Karnataka state. The Krishna River and Ghataprabha River merge here and flow east towards Srisailam (another pilgrim center) in Andhra Pradesh. The Jangam or Jangamuru or veerashaiva Jangam a Shaiva order of religious monks. They are the priests (Gurus) of the Veerashaiva or Lingayatism, and are disciples of Shiva as mentioned in Basava Puranas. Jangamas were originally Vedic Shaiva Brahmins, from the same background as Basavanna, who is also identified as a Shaiva Brahmin. In the 12th century, these Brahmins became priests of the emerging Lingayat faith, and over time this Brahmins become known as Jangamas.

Sarvajna
Sarvajña was a Kannada poet, pragmatist and philosopher of the 16th century. The word "Sarvajna" in Sanskrit literally means "the all knowing". His father was Kumbara Malla and his mother was Mallaladevi. His birth anniversary is celebrated on February 20 every year. He belongs to the caste of Kumbara. He is famous for his pithy three-lined poems called tripadi (written in the native three-line verse metre, "with three padas, a form of Vachana"). He is also referred as Sarvagna in modern translation.
