Lunularia cruciata
Lunularia is a genus of liverworts whose only species is Lunularia cruciata, the crescent-cup liverwort. Lunularia is either the only genus in the order Lunulariales, or may be placed in the order Marchantiales. The name, from Latin luna, moon, refers to the moon-shaped gemma cups.

Blasia pusilla
Blasia pusilla is the only species in the liverwort genus Blasia. This species establishes a symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria of the genus Nostoc, which are housed in special cavities, called auricles, occurring on the ventral (underside) surface of the thallus.
Fossombronia
Fossombronia is a genus of liverworts belonging to the family Fossombroniaceae. It was first described by Giuseppe Raddi in 1818. The genus has a cosmopolitan distribution.
Ptilidium
Ptilidium is a genus of liverwort, and is the only genus in family Ptilidiaceae. It includes only three species: Ptilidium californicum, Ptilidium ciliare, and Ptilidium pulcherrimum. The genus is distributed throughout the arctic and subarctic, with disjunct populations in New Zealand and Tierra del Fuego. Molecular analysis suggests that the genus has few close relatives and diverged from other leafy liverworts early in their evolution.

Pleurozia
Pleurozia is the only genus of liverworts in the family Pleuroziaceae, which is now classified in its own order Pleuroziales, but was previously included in a broader circumscription of the Jungermanniales. The genus includes twelve species, and as a whole is both physically distinctive and widely distributed.
Pellia
Pellia is a small but widespread genus of liverworts in the cool and temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. It is classified in order Pelliales and is a member of the family Pelliaceae within that order.
Metzgeria
Metzgeria is a genus of thalloid liverworts in the family Metzgeriaceae.
Makinoa crispata
Makinoa crispata is the only species of liverwort in the genus Makinoa and family Makinoaceae. The genus Verdoornia was formerly included in this family, but has been transferred to the family Aneuraceae on the basis of recent cladistic analysis of genetic sequences.

Sphaerocarpos
Sphaerocarpos is a genus of plants known as bottle liverworts. There are eight or nine species in this genus.
Aneura
genus of liverworts
Riccardia
Riccardia is a plant genus in the liverwort family Aneuraceae.

Haplomitrium
Haplomitrium is a genus of liverworts.
Riella
Riella is a genus in the liverwort family Riellaceae, and includes about eighteen species. Plants in the genus are small and grow submerged in shallow temporary pools. Although the genus is widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere, locating populations is often difficult. Its occurrence is sporadic and local, and the tiny plants are ephemeral. The ornamented spores remain viable for several years, allowing the plants to survive annual drying of their habitat. The plants are easily grown in laboratory cultures.
Allisonia cockaynei
Allisonia cockaynei is the only species of liverwort in the genus Allisonia and family Allisoniaceae. It is endemic to New Zealand.
Moerckia
Moerckia is a genus of liverworts belonging to the family Moerckiaceae.
Calycularia
Calycularia is the only genus of liverwort in the family Calyculariaceae. It was formerly included within the Allisoniaceae, and it includes only two species.
Neohodgsonia
Neohodgsonia is a genus of liverworts containing the single species Neohodgsonia mirabilis. Neohodgsonia is the only genus in the family Neohodgsoniaceae, which is the only family in the order Neohodgsoniales.

Pallavicinia
Pallavicinia is a globally distributed genus in the liverwort family Pallaviciniaceae. Thallus is simple and contains a strong hair-like midrib. Thallus area except midrib made out of one layer of cells. Thallus is dark green in color and it is very small (3-6 cm in long and 4-5 mm broad). Margins are entirely or irregularly lobed. Most species are distributed in tropical, subtropical or temperate regions. It grows in shady and moist environments, such as moist soil-covered rocks and banks of fresh water streams. Female thallus lobes have cup-shaped fringed receptacles.
Sandeothallus
Sandeothallus is a small genus of liverworts restricted to East Asia. It is classified in the order of Pallaviciniales and is the only member of the family, Sandeothallaceae within that order.
Phyllothallia
Phyllothallia is a small genus of liverworts of the Southern Hemisphere. It is classified in the order Pallaviciniales and is the only member of the family Phyllothalliaceae within that order. Unlike most members of the Metzgeriales, Phyllothallia has a leafy appearance. The genus has a disjunct distribution, with the species Phyllothallia nivicola found in New Zealand while the other species in the genus, Phyllothallia fuegiana, occurs in Tierra del Fuego.
Cavicularia
Cavicularia densa is the only species in the liverwort genus Cavicularia. The species was first described in 1897 by Franz Stephani, and is endemic to Japan, where it grows on fine moist soil.
Noteroclada
Noteroclada is a small genus of liverworts of the Southern Hemisphere. It is classified in order Pelliales and is the only genus in the family Noterocladaceae within that order. Unlike Pellia, the other genus in the order, Noteroclada has a leafy appearance.
Vandiemenia ratkowskiana
Vandiemenia ratkowskiana is the only species of liverwort in the genus Vandiemenia. It is endemic to Tasmania, Australia. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests.

Leptophyllopsis
Leptophyllopsis laxa is a species of liverwort in the family Lophocoleaceae. It is the only member of the genus Leptophyllopsis.
