Merzig
Merzig (, , Moselle Franconian: Meerzisch/Miërzësch) is a town in Saarland, Germany. It is the capital of the district Merzig-Wadern, with about 30,000 inhabitants in 17 municipalities on 108 km². It is situated on the river Saar, approx. 35 km south of Trier, and 35 km northwest of Saarbrücken.

Wadern
Wadern () is a municipality in the federal state Saarland, which is situated in the southwest of Germany. It is part of the district Merzig-Wadern. Wadern consists of 13 urban districts with approximately 16.000 inhabitants. With 143 inhabitants per km2 it is sparsely populated, but, with an area of 111 km2, Wadern is the third largest municipality in Saarland after Saarbrücken and St. Wendel. The town is divided into 14 urban districts and altogether 24 villages belong to the commune. The town is part of the Moselle Franconian language area.

The headquarters of Villeroy & Boch are in Mettlach. Also, the Mettlach tiles are named after the municipality.

Beckingen (; Saarlandic dialect: Beckinge) is a municipality in the Merzig-Wadern district in Saarland, Germany. It is situated on the river Saar, approximately 7 km southeast of Merzig and 30 km northwest of Saarbrücken. It was created on January 1, 1974 as part of the territorial and administrative reform of the villages Beckingen, Düppenweiler, Erbringen, Hargarten, Haustadt, Honzrath, Oppen, Reimsbach and Saarfels.

The Schimmelkopf or Weiskircher Höhe is a mountain that rises in the Schwarzwälder Hochwald (part of the Hunsrück) on the boundary between the counties of Trier-Saarburg (Rhineland-Palatinate) and Merzig-Wadern (Saarland) and, at , is the second highest peak in the German state of Saarland.
