Xenix is a discontinued Unix operating system for various microcomputer platforms, licensed by Microsoft from AT&T Corporation. The first version was released in 1980, and Xenix was the most common Unix variant during the mid- to late-1980s. The Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) acquired exclusive rights to the software, and eventually replaced it with SCO UNIX, later known as OpenServer 5, with the final Xenix version released in 1991.

ThreadX is an embedded real-time operating system (RTOS) programmed mostly in the C language. It was originally released in 1997 as ThreadX when Express Logic first developed it, later it was renamed to Azure RTOS (2019) after Express Logic was purchased by Microsoft, then most recently it was renamed again to Eclipse ThreadX (2023), or "ThreadX" in its short form, after it transitioned to free open source model under the stewardship of the Eclipse Foundation.

HomeOS was the working title of a home automation operating system being developed at Microsoft Research in the early 2010s. Microsoft Research announced the project in 2010 and abandoned it in 2012.
