The series follows a group of Utah-based TikTok influencers, known as "MomTok", as they navigate the complexities of their personal and professional lives. The first season was released on September 6, 2024, and became Hulu's most-watched unscripted season premiere of 2024. The second season was released on May 15, 2025. A third season premiered on November 13, 2025. A fourth season premiered on March 12, 2026.

Warren Steed Jeffs is an American cult leader and convicted child sex offender. He is the president of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a polygamous cult based in Arizona and is serving a life sentence in Texas for child sexual assault after two convictions in 2011. The FLDS Church was founded in the early 20th century when its founders deemed the renunciation of polygamy by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be apostasy. The LDS Church disavows any connection between it and the FLDS Church, although there are significant historical ties.

Ruby Franke is an American former family vlogger and convicted child abuser who ran the now defunct YouTube channel 8 Passengers. On August 30, 2023, Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt were arrested in Washington County, Utah, and charged with six counts of felony aggravated child abuse of two of Franke's children. Franke ultimately pleaded guilty to four counts and on February 20, 2024, was sentenced to serve between four and thirty years in prison.
