Nordea Bank Abp, commonly referred to as Nordea, is a Nordic financial services group operating in northern Europe with headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. The name is a blend of the words "Nordic" and "idea". The Nordic countries are considered Nordea's home market, having finalised the sales of their Polish bank in 2014, Baltic operations in 2019 and completed the exit from Russia in early 2022 following a 2019 decision to close the business there. ' (KOP, ), also known as ', was a commercial bank operating from 1889 to 1995 in Finland. It was created by the Fennoman movement as a Finnish alternative to the then-dominant bank largely associated with the Swedish-speaking community, Suomen Yhdyspankki (SYP, ). Its emblem was a blue stylized squirrel.

Yhdyspankki () was a major bank in Finland, from its establishment in 1862 until its merger in 1995 with its longtime rival Kansallis-Osake-Pankki (KOP) to form what would become Nordea.
